Cleaning Water Spots On Wood Floors

A simple method is simply to cover each spot with mayonnaise and wait overnight for the oil it contains to seep through the finish and replace the water.

If the water stain has been there for only a few days use the heat in this method to evaporate all. Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise over the water spot then sprinkle baking soda on top of it.

Clean the sanded area with 00 steel wool and mineral spirits or a wood floor cleaner. Dip a clean toothbrush into the bleach and swirl it around. Rub the toothpaste on the affected area for a minute try to avoid rubbing on non affected area as this can remove the finish in those areas. Wipe in the direction of the wood grain until the stain is gone. Scrub the bleach into the stain with a toothbrush. Bleach the part using hydrogen peroxide and then stain the floor with a color that matches that of your floor. Iron the stains out.
